A preliminary study of one of our earliest mass-production industries in which, even before 1700, a worker could turn out 24,000 pins a day. Pin-making was centred on the Bristol-Gloucester region, and most examples are of hard-drawn wire with spiral-wound heads of a type current from mid-16th to at least late 18th century. | |||
