Definition of the chronological contexts of megalithic tombs, although not the most significant aspect, remains vital to their study, and its neglect leads to faulty perspectives. Thorough reassessment of 14C dates helps towards a coherent chronology from portal tombs through to wedges, with reuse of chambered tombs in Final Neolithic times. Probably no chambered tombs were being built after 2500 cal BC. Connections with Brittany and the Channel Isles are still possible on this chronology. Some social implications are drawn. | |||||
