O 0176. Partial excavation of one of the embanked circular enclosures in the Bend of the Boyne revealed a complex of Beaker structures including, within an oval scoop a post-built house with a hearth and many Beaker sherds. Another part of the enclosure contained eleven pit burials (cremations) and a Carrowkeel ware bowl with a cremation; Beaker and Early Neo sherds were on the old ground surface round about. A small barrow with ditch and central burial was also examined. Illustrations are provided of the plain and Rockbarton pottery, 'B' Beakers, rusticated wares, flint scrapers and blades. | ||||||||||||||||||
