Abstract:
Amongst the finds from the temple ruins was a small piece of copper alloy sheet interpreted as part of an auxiliary horseman's helmet of the type `Russell Robinson H'. The fragment is too thin to be part of a copper alloy helmet and has been interpreted as part of the decoration of an iron helmet. No traces of solder could be found, but the fragment shows two rivet holes. The artistic decoration indicates a helmet of `high status' and it is suggested that the fragment was deliberately hammered flat and probably donated for the conservation of the temple.
