Abstract:
The first instalment of an article comprising transcriptions of all seventeenth- to twentieth-century monumental inscriptions in this graveyard which are cross-referenced with contemporary newspaper obituaries. The `Editor's Introduction' (2-4) by Julian C Walton outlines the history of the Church of Ireland church at Kilculliheen which was constructed in 1819-21, as well as its precursor which was built or re-built by 1731. The church and graveyard also stand on the site of a medieval Augustinian nunnery. Of the inscriptions, a number of those dating to the eighteenth century commemorate Catholic merchant families of Waterford, though only Protestants were buried there from the early-nineteenth century.
