Outlines the history of this now-destroyed six-storey tower house in Dungarvan, Co Waterford, which was owned by the Mac Cragh (MacGrath) family of Mountain Castle in the early-seventeenth century. Various documentary sources are used along with a mid-eighteenth-century engraving and late-nineteenth/early-twentieth-century photographs of the castle. After the castle suffered a series of partial collapses during the nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries, the last vestiges of the building were demolished in the early 1960s. | |
