Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Reports on the recording of three mining sites in Monaghan (Co). The mid-nineteenth-century mine office building at Tassan, together with the foundations for a nearby engine house, the main shaft site, the probable dressing floor and an intact iron horse whim were recorded. The former mine manager's house and the foundation of the engine house chimney at nearby Annaglogh were also recorded together with the remains of the office building and the foundations of the presumed engine and boiler houses at Coolartra. Also mentions the discovery of a mining-related poem, which refers to a race meeting for horses, ponies and donkeys organised by the mine captain of Coolartra in 1892. | ||||||||
