Abstract:		 Reports on the commissioning of a conservation consultancy study of the Allihies copper mine funded by the Heritage Council of Ireland, which is to include a detailed account of the history and heritage value of the site compiled by the Mining Heritage Society of Ireland. The initiation of any conservation work would await the conclusions of the consultancy study (see also 2001/***). Reference is also made to a recently discovered sketch of the engine house at Allhies dating from 1869, which is held in the Mine Records Archive of the Geological Survey of Ireland.
