Two short reports on aspects of Irish mining heritage. `Visit to Ballyknockan Granite Quarries (11th Feb. 2001)' mentions that derelict machinery can still be seen at this nineteenth-/twentieth-century site near Blessington, County Wicklow. The oral history of the area is referred to, as is evidence for the quarries' product being found in much local architecture. `Research visit to PRO, Kew, and Guildhall London (17-22nd September)' offers an introduction to the nature of the documentary sources on mining companies operating in Ireland, which can be found in these two British record repositories. | |
