Abstract:
Account of a Roman cremation cemetery, initially discovered by workmen in the grounds of Walmer Lodge, some 650m north of Walmer Castle, in 1901. Further burials were discovered during building work in 1962 but never published. The article draws on a recently-found report of the later discoveries along with some of the excavated material, comprising forty-five of the forty-seven pots originally described and a small quantity of cremated human bone.
