The author reassesses the evidence for the Abbey Church of St Radegund, originally excavated in 1882 by W H St John Hope and investigated at various times since then. A description of various elements of the church is given, based on the author's observations of the remains and on expert advice. The author suggests that the suggested reconstruction previously given, which was based on St John Hope's conclusions, failed to portray the true nature of the building or its constructional history, and an outline sequence of its construction is proposed. | |||
