Abstract:
TQ 518739. Describes the Bowman's Lodge Palaeolithic implements more fully than the previous account of 1950, now the whole collection is in the British Museum. Correlation with Wansunt Channel is reaffirmed though it is stressed that the Bowman's Lodge occupation is under, not in, the loam. 36 pieces are figured and described and attributed to a late Middle Acheulian, but no counts are given. Special attention is given to the 'flake tools'. The Clactonian technique is noted, but no cultural connection is implied. Less emphasis is placed on the Levallois element than in 1950. D M C
