Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
A consideration of developments at the east end of the abbey in this period. The choir was rebuilt in Decorated style by the Despenser family and it has hitherto been widely assumed that it remained in its original Romanesque form up to that time. However, the original plan having been ascertained by analogy with that at Gloucester, evidence for a minimum of three interim building phases, particularly in the area of the transept, is discussed. | ||
