Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Reviews current knowledge of what Charles Green had termed 'Glevum Ware'. It was produced not at a single central complex but at a variety of places to common forms and fabrics, and it reached a market throughout the Severn Basin and somewhat beyond. Production increased to meet military demands, and continued to supply civilian markets into mid-4th century. The fact that the pre-conquest Durotrigan tankard was one source of inspiration suggests a transference of Durotrigan craftsmen after the conquest of Dorset. A basic classification of forms is set out together with description and discussion of the ware. | |||||
