Questions the logic of spending huge sums of money on moving archaeologically excavated scraps of buildings for presentation purposes above ground, citing in particular the foundations of Geneval's Tower in Dublin which was assigned a government grant of IR£330,000. Feels that money could be spent on preservation rather than on (more expensive) presentation and complains that archaeologists lack long-term planning strategies for the archaeology of Dublin which results in political issues being made only of individual unexpected discoveries rather than of the city's heritage and planning policies as a whole. |
