A small rectangular shrine lies in the centre of a 1st century BC village which began as an open settlement and was enclosed c 50 BC; houses range from 6m-13m across. A potin coin hoard dates to c 40 BC. Abandonment c 25 BC was followed by a reoccupation for about twenty years from AD 40; a fine gem and thirty brooches of this period were deposited adjacent to the shrine (see also 90/437). | ||||||||||
