Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Discusses emerging evidence that the royal site of Tara (Co Meath) may have been inhabited by an elite group of `Romano-Irish' families. Much of the evidence involves artefacts recovered during excavations carried out by Seán P Ó Ríordáin (see 98/1080) and by Ruaidhrí de Valera in the 1950s. Both archaeologists died before they could complete their studies of Tara and so the artefactual material remained in storage in the Archaeology Department of University College Dublin until it was recently analysed by Eoin Grogan for the Discovery Programme. | ||
