Abstract:
Brief notes on Irish mining history. The first note of an occasional series on Irish mining scams looks at the case of `Ardmore [Waterford (Co)] and Harry Ferguson 1919' (4-5). Nick Coy (5-6) follows this with a `Video review' dealing with Industrial Archaeology Recordings' film, The SCMC in Ireland: exploration of Irish mines above and below ground. In `Query re: manuscript source', Des Cowman (6-7) makes an appeal for information about the origins of an unprovenanced typescript listing of manuscripts given to the author some years previously. The manuscripts originated in the office of London solicitor George Playdell Wilton and include items relating to nineteenth-century mining in Co Clare and elsewhere.
