Abstract:		 Rescue excavation and other fieldwork revealed evidence for a Roman tile and pottery production site south of Longman's Street Farm, Brinkworth. Excavation uncovered evidence for systematic stacking of tiles prior to removal from the site, and a rectangular tile-built structure. It was not possible to determine whether this latter feature appears to have begun before AD 70 and the site may have been a military predecessor to the civil kilns at nearby Minety. The bulk of production seems to have ceased by AD 75, but the site appears to have continued in use on a reduced scale into the period AD 80--130. Connections with other ruralised pottery industries in Roman Wiltshire are discussed. There are `Specialist reports' by C K Currie & M A Loft (38--49) on the tile and pottery.
