Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Reports on excavations around the standing stone on the Mayo/Roscommon border. A cremation burial and adjacent ring barrow reflect pagan Iron Age traditions, while an extended inhumation, aligned east--west and unaccompanied by grave goods, is thought to indicate a Christian ritual. The standing stone is unusual in having a series of four chiselled holes (see also 97/1607), and there is some discussion of the original size and location of the stone. The `Physical analysis of skeletal material from Kiltullagh' is discussed by Eileen Murphy (91--3). | ||||||||||||
