Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Description of sherds of a Roman bowl-type pottery vessel, of likely early 2nd century AD date, found in the Walbrook Valley, which are decorated with strips of metal. The strips are attached to the exterior of the rim and the rim top, and also decorate the vessel wall. Analysis showed that the strips, which were made of tin containing about 3% lead, are attached to the pottery by means of a starch-based adhesive. No parallels of Roman date are known. MH | |||||||||
