Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Transcription of and discussion on a fourteenth century purveyance order for army provisions, including one hundred sides of bacon, prepared by Sheriff Thomas de Swyneford. The document throws light on medieval farming practices and possibly on social conditions in the area at the time due to the fact that the produce took a roundabout journey from Oakham to Yaxley, avoiding Stamford. There is an appendix on the document `Transcript of PRO E 101/584/2' (402). | |||
