Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The site of the eighteenth- and nineteenth-century ironworks lies on the west bank of the Taff Gorge. It was one of two early ironworks established here; a single furnace at Tongwynlais lay a little further downstream. Of particular interest is the early date of origin of both sites, which were in operation by the mid sixteenth century and were thus probably the two earliest blast furnaces in Glamorgan. The main part of the article comprises a short historical account and a description of the site. | |||
