Abstract:
In 2007 a rockshelter was discovered at the base of a cliff above Pont Garreg Hylldrem and partially excavated to assess potential for the preservation emph{in situ} of archaeological remains. The excavation revealed deposits dating from the Early Mesolithic including midden deposits comprising molluscs, animal bone and heat reddened flint. Excavation beyond the drip line of the shelter recovered a Bronze Age barbed and tanged arrowhead, which may have been associated with a burial that was subsequently destroyed by the acidic soil.
