Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Pollen analysis was undertaken of a small, peat filled basin, located close to the porcellanite outcrop at Tievebulliagh. This revealed a relatively low level of activity during the Neolithic, perhaps suggesting intermittent rather than sustained activity. Major clearance and agricultural activity occurred during the Bronze Age, particularly during the Late Bronze Age. Evidence of fieldwall systems of a similar date in other areas of the Antrim Plateau suggests that an expansion into the Antrim uplands may have occurred during the period following the eruption of Hekla III. | ||||||
