Abstract:
Two fine 9th century brooches, those called "Dalriada" and "University", may now be reunited with their provenances - Loughan (Co Derry) and Rathlin Island (Co Antrim) respectively. They belong to a group of 9th-11th century silver (and gold) finds from N Antrim; reasons for the deposition are considered in detail, with salesmen/middlemen as the most likely agents.
