Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Reports on excavations undertaken in 1992 in an area of the medieval town. Backyard deposits dating from the thirteenth century onwards were revealed, with remains of timber-framed and stone buildings along the Main Street frontage, and a 60m length of city wall was recorded. Evidence for property boundaries indicated that plots had remained virtually unchanged for nearly 700 years. Appendices comprise: `An investigation of three geological features' by A P Beese & M V Nyhan (86--7); a `Dendrochronological report on the samples from Kyrl's Quay, Cork' by David Brown (87); and `The city wall at 81--83 Grand Parade, Cork' by Joanne Wren (88--9). | ||||||
