Historical study which discusses the impact on population and settlement of the mass evictions, exacerbated by a severe winter and a cholera epidemic, that took place during the Great Irish Famine on many estates in Co Clare. Many areas and entire villages were depopulated, as in the case of Moveen, of which ruined houses and an overgrown boreen are all that survive. Many landowners had also started to go bankrupt. |
