Abstract:
Descriptions and historical backgrounds of various tower house sites spanning the fifteenth to seventeenth centuries near Corofin in Co Clare which were located by a combination of historical research, folklore, topography and field survey. The discovery of dressed stone either lying on the site of a tower house or re-used in a nearby field wall or a farm building was the most important confirmation of the former existence of a medieval building.
