Abstract:
Discusses some of the issues and topics arising from an electronic symposium that took place at the 2012 Society of American Archaeology Meeting in Memphis, Tennessee. Titled Lessons from the Trenches: The Pedagogy of Archaeology and Heritage, the goal of this symposium was to have a wide variety of case studies presenting individual approaches for teaching critical skills and expanding the breadth of topics in which students are trained, in order to allow new archaeologists to engage with issues in the contemporary world in the most effective manner. Papers submitted from different parts of the world introduced a breadth of learning environments.
