Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The finding of an ashwood fragment previously unnoticed in the socket of the Llyn Fawr iron sickle is the starting point for this review of the evidence for the type of wood used in nine arrow-shafts with flint points, about forty shafts of bronze spearheads, nine of bronze socketed axes and seven of daggers and socketed tools. Selection of particular woods is only well evidenced for the spears, for which it suggested that woodland was managed to produce suitable ash and oak shafts. | ||||||||||||
