Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Work was carried out at this site to broaden understanding of the Solway defences as a whole and facilitate their presentation to the public. An unusual rampart construction was revealed, as well as layout details of the interior which was packed with buildings. The small quantity of pottery recovered points to a short occupation phase in the Hadrianic period, raising important questions about military strategy along the Wall as a whole. Acidic soil conditions had badly corroded the many iron objects and destroyed any organic remains. AR | ||
