Three of the dry-stone buildings in this complex have now been totally excavated and one contained six articulated cow and calf skeletons. Few artefacts were recovered, but coin finds indicate occupation of the settlement through the mid-ninth century. The unusual use of stone rather than timber for construction may be related to disruption of supplies by Viking activities. | |||||||
