Abstract:		 Notes test excavations at three sites carried out by the Archaeological Practice (University of Newcastle upon Tyne) and four further sites. The Prior's Manor (Wardley), a known rectilinear embanked enclosure, was investigated with a view to locating the north-east ditch and causeway. Old Ravensworth village and Hedley village did not yield conclusive evidence of medieval settlement. Bishopswearmouth, Newbottle, Middle Herrington and Monkton are briefly sketched.
