Abstract:		 Report on a programme of archaeological evaluation aimed at testing a sample of sites threatened by coastal erosion on the west coasts of Guernsey and of Herm. The programme aimed to assess the archaeological value of the sites, the seriousness of the threat, and possible strategies to slow down or halt further erosion. Separate accounts are given of the four sites of Camp Varouf, L'Erée, St Peter-in-the-Wood, Guernsey (Neolithic settlement, 869--93); Le Crocq, St Saviour, Guernsey (Iron Age/Roman salt production site, 894--902); Fort Grey (or Château de Rocquaine), St Peter-in-the-Wood (Late Bronze Age and Iron Age/Roman settlement and salt production site, 903--10); and Fisherman's Beach, Herm (evidence of Roman and medieval activity, possibly related to a nearby settlement, 911--32).
