Abstract:
Discusses the early history and design of this Roman Catholic chapel which was consecrated in 1916 in the grounds of University College Cork and provides details and illustrations of some of its altar plate and its various furnishings and fittings. These include an embroidered banner of St Finbarr, the enamelled tabernacle door, the missal cover, the antependium, a cloth of gold chasuble, the ceremonial chair, the ciborium, and the chalice, all of which are decorated in the style of the Irish Arts and Crafts movement of the early-twentieth century.
