Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Recounts how the Regency period mansion of Fota House and its gardens (which are internationally renowned for their extensive and meticulously recorded collections of trees and shrubs from the New World) was acquired by University College Cork in the 1970s and adapted for use by its Zoology and Botany departments. Part of the land was leased to Dublin Zoo to establish Fota Wildlife Park in 1983, while the bulk of the remaining part of the estate was subsequently sold off. Outlines the survey and conservation work currently being made on Fota House, its orangery and its walled gardens. | ||
