Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Petrological analysis of fabrics indicate different modes of production and distribution. The transition from local modes of production and distribution of wide-ranging pottery styles, to centralised production of a strongly regional style appears to have overlapped with some of the stylistic distinctions. The Trevisker style appears to coincide with the widespread development of permanent settlements before upland coaxial field systems were constructed. An examination of the typology for Trevisker ware indicates that decorative traits are closely linked to functional diversity rather than purely chronological differences. The existing ApSimon typology is modified and expanded to take account of these observations. | |||
