Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
The Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England has completed a survey of the site of the seventeenth-century house and gardens of the Grenville family at Stowe. The investigation has revealed the ground plan of the great house for the first time and made possible the recording of the overall layout and the intricate details of the formal gardens which surrounded the house. Features which indicate the presence of an earlier house and gardens have also been identified. | |
