Abstract:
Reports the discovery and excavation of four Early Neolithic pits during evaluation prior to construction work. Includes specialist reports on the pottery assemblage, petrography, the flint and stone, charred plant remains, charcoal, and radiocarbon dating. The site is particularly notable for the presence of charred remains of wheat and barley, unusual in the Early Neolithic. \r\nContinues with a discussion of contemporary Cornish sites. It is suggested that this site is probably ritual in nature, resulting from the successive deposition of offerings into purpose dug pits. Concludes with a discussion of the significance of the coastal nature of the site. PP-B
