Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Introduces the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS), originally set up by the Department for Culture Media and Sport in 1997 to record the increased amount of material that had to be reported as Treasure under the new Treasure Act 1996. There are now about 2,500 objects from across Cornwall on the PAS database. Whilst these include metal artefacts discovered by detectorists, reporting of finds from fieldwalking has also led to the discovery of important new sites. Some significant finds recorded through the Scheme are highlighted against the wider context of the archaeology of the county. LD | ||
