Abstract The abstract describing the content of the publication or report |
Provides background information on work experience in archaeology, particularly relating to work placements as part of an assessed course of study. Various benefits for student, employer, and educational establishment are listed, followed by a definition of best practice as observed in a variety of professions. The responses to a 1990 survey of the use of placements in archaeology are summarised: it is observed that employers tend to see placements simply as a source of labour, and dialogue with universities is minimal. Suggestions are then made for improving this situation. |
