Article on a hoard of plates bearing a crowned ostrich-feather mark, found at Guy's Hospital in Southwark at the end of 1899. The author examines the history of the plates and their significance, identifies the current location of as many of the plates as possible, and gives a description of their physical features. He discusses the ostrich feather emblem and other examples of its occurrence on plates, examines four theories as to its significance, and presents speculations as to the identity of their maker. |
