Abstract:
Article describing a community archaeology project run in Faversham in 2005, under the umbrella of the Faversham Society; its aim was to enable local people to participate in archaeology. The research aim chosen for the project was to investigate the assumption that 'Saxon Faversham' lay in the Tanners Street/West Street area of the town. Work involved the excavation of test-pits within gardens. Although evidence of Saxon occupation was not identified, the team produced an exhibition on the project and it was anticipated that the investigation would be completed in the following year. LD
