Abstract:
River erosion has exposed a section through the Roman road from Exeter to North Tawton in the banks of the Den Brook. It was found that two types of stone had been used in the road construction, one of which had been quarried at least 1km away. The section at Den Brook was recorded and the observation led to a fresh discovery in the banks of an arm of the Yeo near North Tawton.
