Abstract:
Partial excavation of a small barrow on Bratton Down produced a central deposit of cremated bone mixed with incised Trevisker sherds within a cist of stone and wood. At Shallowmead, Span Head, a simple ring cairn had no central focus. Both monuments provided radiocarbon dates of the later second millennium BC. At Shallowmead clearance cairns and stone banks may belong to an episode of prehistoric land use. The sites are placed in their context among other Middle Bronze Age ritual monuments in south-west Britain. Includes two separately authored reports on:
