St Catherine's Almshouses were founded in the mid-fifteenth century to house thirteen poor men. The accommodation was arranged around two courtyards and incorporated a small chapel. Adjacent lay the service range of a large medieval canon's house. The report collates and interprets the evidence for the layout, function and historic development of these buildings gathered during archaeological building surveys and documentary research.
