Abstract:
Report on explorations and topographic survey carried out by Craven Pothole Club in 1988--89 of caves near Killavullen Bridge, Co Cork. Animal bones discovered during removal of obstructing debris were later identified as mainly pig and fallow deer. Reference is made to excavations in 1934 in which bones of Irish giant deer, brown bear, wolf and reindeer were found. The presence of human bones visible beneath a calcite layer in one cave is also noted. The caves are now open to the public.
