Abstract:
Article describing the investigation of two cropmark sites found during aerial survey in the early 1980s. Geophysical survey indicated the presence of a number of features corresponding to those seen on the aerial photographs. Exploratory trenches revealed features appearing to represent a ditched enclosure with internal buildings, possibly a small farmstead. Due to the small scale of the excavations, the exact function of the settlement could not be understood. Although there was no secure dating evidence, the site may have been prehistoric or Romano-British. Two circular features to the south that were not investigated may ultimately prove to be barrows.
