A discussion of accounts of the life of St Declan, in which mention is made of the Little Black Stone, an item once venerated in Dungarvan, Co Waterford, but which has not been seen since it was described and illustrated in 1861. The stone was a thin c 2 inch square piece of marble, bound by a metal clasp, and bearing a cross on one side with a circle on the other. The sixth century Saint is believed to have received either a bell (cloc/c) or a stone (cloch) from God. | ||||
